About the video

Wednesday, Oct 24, 2001 - The TRL Clayton Technology Showcase was opened by Telstra CEO, Ziggy Switkowski, and Victorian Treasurer, John Brumby. The Showcase consists of a revamped foyer in building M8 with a range of new and innovative displays. It will be the centrepiece of Telstra's R&D tours program and complements the existing tours program through its ability to feature a range of Telstra's research activities, including - artificial intelligence, speech recognition, interactive TV, internet security. At the opening, Ziggy said that for almost 80 years, Telstra Research Laboratories has been introducing new technology to not only Telstra, but to Australia and that its contribution to the science community and to innovation has been significant.

The event was covered by several media organisations and there are 2 samples from the television evening news that day.
